I'm still 22 and living an absolute dream in South America, and I am confident I will find something to do that both pays bills and offers satisfaction. But I'm still not ready to talk about August 5, 2011. I have many more sleepless nights and phone calls and peaceful sunrises before I can announce my "now what" post-Fulbright life. Today I understand a little better why Rainer Maria Rilke said, "The purpose of life is to be defeated by greater and greater things," and what Samuel Beckett meant by "Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better."

My beautiful Kim,
First of all, I love you. I'm so proud of you for keeping such a good head on your shoulders in spite of this rug being pulled out from under you. You are so bright and you have described our "plight" as aimless 20-somethings so well.
Keep up your amazing work, Kimmy! <3
You can always come stay with me in SF :)
Your maturity stands ground and glows, even as life's arrows rain down on you. Also, thank you for writing that bit about our age - you have an unerring sense of your age group among the privileged and educated.

Hey Kim! I'm so glad I saw this post. Thank you for sharing such concise and realistic insights into our generation and for your honesty about dealing with rejection. Clearly you don't need to hear this, but many more exciting, joyful, and well-deserved opportunities and challenges will be coming your way.

You explained us 20-somethings perfectly!! I can happily say the casual dating is gone for me now which is great and makes life a bit more stable and I think I am going to keep living down in South America for as long as I can. I figure a masters is down the road at some point but right now life is taking me down a different road and I love it. Enjoy the ride Kim! Sometimes not knowing is better than having everything set. You never know what might surprise you in the next 4 months before you go home!
<3 You're amazing. Don't stop fighting.

You will make it and come out thriving and happy...sé que no crees en el jamás.
